“La solitudine” (English: Loneliness) was written by Angelo Valsiglio, Pietro Cremonesi, and Federico Cavalli. The song was released as the lead single from Pausini’s debut, self-titled album. The single was released in February 1993 topping the singles charts in Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In the United States, “La solitudine” peaked at #5 Billboard’s Latin Pop Songs chart.
In 1993, the song became the winner of 43rd San Remo Music Festival.
“La solitudine” was released in Spanish language, titled “La soledad” in 1994. An English language version of the song, titled “La solitudine (Loneliness)”, adapted by Tim Rice, was released as a single in June 1995 (scroll down for videos).
